A love letter from your unborn baby

Dear mom and dad,

I’m thirty-two weeks old, isn’t it amazing how time flies? In just a few short weeks I will be there with you. Can you believe it? There are a few things that I would like you to do before I arrive. You’ve been so busy preparing for me, I’ve noticed that you haven’t spent as much time with one another as you used to. Don’t worry, it’s never too late to make up for lost time, and I have a few suggestions.

I know you’re busy, so I’ve made it easy for you. Click the following link for some great Pinterest ideas; https://www.pinterest.com/TMDoulas/mom-dad-time/. I promise, you guys will thank me when I get there. Enjoy this time alone while you can, I can’t promise that I won’t make for some sleepless nights when I finally arrive.

NICU Mom Shares Her Story

It is not uncommon in our society to hear all of the war stories of women as they endeavor into birth and postpartum. It is often used as a badge of honor of some kind. In reality, I am confident that each person just wants their story to be heard. They want to be validated, seen, and held in a safe space.

Talking to someone about their journey can evoke so many emotions for someone. Sheree was such a brave warrior in working with me to share her story. She has a passion for making sure that people become educated.

It was such an honor to chat this through and hear her story. Take time to learn from a California local mama about her NICU story.

Exclusively Pumping 101 Course

Meet Latasha,

Your instructor for our Exclusively Pumping Course!

“Hi! I’m Latasha, born and raised in Northern CA. I became a wife in 08 and a mom in 09 but my introduction to motherhood and breastfeeding was not what I had hoped. My son spent time in the NICU and I was handed a breast pump with little guidance or instruction. Very discouraging!

In 2015 I delivered a little girl as a surrogate and pumped again, this time by choice. I researched and explored and essentially had to teach myself the ins and outs of exclusively pumping, but I succeeded for 25 months and weaned to carry a second girl for the same couple. She was born in 2019 and I’m still pumping!

Discouraged by the lack of info out there but encouraged to be part of the solution, I created a group for pumping surrogates in 2018 and became a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor (CLEC) through UC San Diego in 2019. I’ve just completed their Pathway 2 program to qualify...

How to Parent With Your Partner- Tips and Tricks

Thriving partnerships--it takes a lot to parent as a team. While there are many strategies, we round table with other moms to go over what helps them and their partner successfully parent--together.

If you don't have time to watch the video, here are a few of the many takeaways!

1) Have a calendar system that works for you. Sometimes that is online, other times it is a paper calendar. The key is to have something where schedules can be viewed. HINT: assign colors to each family member to make it quicker to sort through the chaos!

2) Communication is key. Decide how to communicate, when to communicate (and when not to communicate), and what platforms to use. Sometimes a quick text message saying "I've had a long day with the kids--can you take over so I can take 20 minutes to regather myself?"

3) Reminders are helpful for you and your spouse! Between work obligations, family obligations, and relationship obligations (among other things like meal prep, house cleaning,...
